Before Botox Treatment:

  • Refrain from blood-thinning and anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Celebrex, Nupren, Fish Oil, Aleve, and high doses of vitamin E) for at least ten days before the tox treatment to minimize the risk of bleeding and prolonged bruising. Discuss regular medication use with your practitioner.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 to 48 hours before the treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding.
  • Refrain from waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal creams on the treatment site 24 hours prior to the procedure.
  • In some cases, consider taking Tylenol at least one hour before the appointment to manage potential discomfort during the treatment.
  • If a history of cold sores exists, inform the specialist to receive prescribed medication, preventing outbreaks post-tox.
  • Minimize sun exposure and always wear sunscreen when outdoors.
  • Have a small meal or snack before the appointment.
  • Communicate any regular medications, supplements, and medical history to your specialist.

Precautions:

  • Botox may not be suitable if you have myasthenia gravis, an allergy to botulinum toxin, a neuromuscular disorder, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have an allergy to human albumin.

After Botox Treatment:

  • Apply makeup immediately but avoid facials and saunas on the day of Botox.
  • Results may take up to 14 days to reach their full potential, with noticeable changes in 4 to 5 days. Be patient as muscles require time to lose strength.
  • Refrain from touching or rubbing the injection site for at least 4 to 6 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid exercising or intense physical activities causing sweating for the next 24 hours.
  • Stay upright for 4 hours post-treatment.
  • Temporary bruising may occur; it’s normal and will fade away.
  • Avoid facials, microdermabrasion treatments, or massages for two weeks post-treatment.
  • Stay away from blood-thinning medications for a couple of days post-treatment.
  • Regularly wear sunscreen every day.
  • Botox results typically last 3 to 4 months, requiring maintenance injections as recommended by your aesthetic injector. A follow-up appointment may be scheduled in about two weeks for assessment and potential additional treatment based on facial muscle reactions.
